The Stowe Missal MS. D. II. 3 in the library of the Royal Irish Academy, Dublin. Volume 31 & 32 George F. Warner The Stowe Missal, now housed in the Royal Irish Academy in Dublin as MS.D.II.3, is one of the most famous Irish manuscripts to have survived from the middle ages. The first part consists of excerpts from the Gospel of St John (fols. 1-11), the second the Stowe Missal proper (fols. 12-67). It is one of the earliest datable Irish manuscripts and an important witness to the early Irish church and to the Irish language at that time. |
